Liverpool are Title Race "Chihuahuas", Mackay blamed for Cardiff's money loss and confusion over Joseph Minala's real age.
Liverpool labelled Title Race "Chihuahuas"
Brendan Rodgers has labelled Liverpool "chihuahuas" in the title race in post match interview after their midweek victory over Fulham. Liverpool currently are sitting 4th in the league with 53 points 4 points behind leaders Chelsea, they have a goal difference of 34 the second highest in the league only 7 off of Manchester City's 41. I however certainly rate them in the title race, however that was not their goal at the start of the season they could do it now. After thrashing Arsenal 5-1 at the weekend thats when I thought they could win the league Liverpool still to play Manchester City and Chelsea at Anfield, their is no doubt that they could win both those games. Although they have some trips to Old Trafford and St Marys which will be tough but I think they will win those games. They can score goals as proven by Suarez and Sturridge as they have scored combined effort of 39 goals in the league. They have had problems defending but they will probably fix that in the coming weeks.
With Manchester City still having to go the Emirates, Anfield, Old Trafford and Goodison Park, their could be a few points dropped. Also they have been in a bit of a slump aswell with no goals in their last 2 games who have averaged 4 goals of a game this season is poor.
The only tough away trip Chelsea have to take is to Anfield although they have to make some trips to teams in relegation trouble and they have already dropped 9 points to teams in the bottom half of the table. Also Chelsea seem to be over reliant on Eden Hazard because he is one the key reasons they are top of the league and if he goes off the boil, gets suspended or injured, they could slip up.
Arsenal still have to make trips to Stamford Bridge, Goodison Park and White Hart Lane and play Manchester City at the Emirates and they have only gained 8 points out of a possible 24 points against teams in the top 6 home and away, 5 of them have been home games and 3 games have been away. You should be winning your home game against the any team especially against the teams in and around you. That would accumlate to a minimum of 15 points against the top 6 and if they had gained those points then they would still be top of the league. They needed a striker in January and didn't get one so they have made to pay for it.
So my overall thoughts on Brendan Rodgers words are that he is just playing mind games and I rate them as serious title contenders and they have a really good chance of winning it and I think they will be 1st or 2nd in the league after they have played Manchester City and Chelsea at Anfield.
Malky Mackay Saga Continues...
Another story this week is former Cardiff manager Malky Mackay is being blamed for Cardiffs 50 million pound loss. He is being blamed on the basis that transfers like Andreas Cornelius, John Brayford, Peter Odemwingie and Gary Medel have been criticized by Vincent Tan. Mackay over spent his 35 million pound budget for transfer fee's, agent fees, and wages by 15 million pounds. Andreas Cornelius was bought for 7.668 million a fee that could rise to 10.93 million and had wages of around 45,000 pounds per week. He was sold back to FC Copenhagen after an injury struck career with Cardiff after only making 7 apperances and scoring 0 goals. Peter Odemwengie signed from West Brom for 2.25 million who was earning 35,000 pounds per week. He made 15 appearances scoring 2 goals and was later involved in a swap deal with Stoke's Kenywne Jones. Gary Medel has been a sucess on the other hand starting the majority of Cardiff's games and putting in decent performances. John Brayford has only featured in 2 of Cardiffs games this season which is disapointing.
In my opinion the way Mackay is being treated is horrific, he should have never been sacked he guided them to promotion and a League Cup final in 2 and a half years at the club and to sack someone after that shows that Vincent Tan knows nothing about footballl and it is now being treated like a business and not a sport. He had 2 more years in his contract which costed them more money. If they kept him he could of probably led them to more sucess such as staying the Premier League. I think only one of them was a poor signing was John Brayford. Cornelius was not his fault because you can't really prevent someone getting injured and he didn't sell him back to Copenhagen. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did, Odemwengie I thought was a good signing but it just didn't click for him and was swapped for Kenywne Jones.. So I don't think they should be blaming him because he has brought a lot of sucess to the club and it seems like Vincent Tan doesn't know what he is doing.
